My friend of forty years Pat Geier introduced me to the British Buddhist teacher Christina Feldman. After listening to and discussing some of her retreat talks at Dharma Seed, we are beginning to discuss her 2017 book, Boundless Heart: The Buddha’s Path of Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity. I am grateful for the following passage from her chapter on Metta…
The Buddha was asked by a student: “Why is it that your nuns and monks are so radiant?” He replied: “Because they do not dwell upon the past that has gone by, do not lean forward into the future with anticipation and expectation, and because they are not preoccupied or obsessed with anything in the present, this is why they are so radiant.”
