I know I arouse your disbelief
Because I do not text
But there’s a simple reason
That I still use a cell phone to call you
The most important thing I have to share
I can’t communicate via texting
I call you on my cell phone
So I can leave this message:
The rich, wonderful, rejuvenating sound
When I tap the bell of mindfulness
Texting is a disease, an addiction
It renders our voices mute
Heartfelt words are reduced
to characters sent impersonally
through the airwaves
and appear with
slight of hand magic
on a screen.
