In this Washington Post piece on Rory Kennedy’s new film, Last Days in Vietnam, she is quoted as follows: “I think the reason why people don’t know what happened [in 1975] was this was such a dark moment,” Kennedy says. “There was no opportunity for heroes in the immediate aftermath of Vietnam. Here we are, 40 years later, finally finding some heroes.”
I suppose after years of U.S. slaughter, chemical warfare, concentration camps called “Strategic Hamlets,” napalm, tiger cages, torture, Phoenix program mass assassination, search and destroy, and B-52 carpet bombing, finding heroes wold have been difficult.
