Alina is studying with me at Maryville University in an Honors World Religion course. She has already made a significant impact in our class. She shared with me the following: “One day, I would love to practice Physical Therapy in a hospital that makes a difference in patient’s lives. I would hopefully be helping patients recover from illness and accidents which will give me so much happiness. I have always loved healthcare and want to help make joyous moments in peoples’ lives.” In 2022 while a student at Saint Dominic High School, she received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Model of Justice Award. I am delighted Alina is willing to share with us how Mother Teresa led her to give of herself in a way that reveals the glory of the ordinary.

Prayer by Mother Teresa
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between God and you;
It was never between them and you anyway
