This Sunday Abbie and Liz, juniors at SLU, will be talking about why they changed their majors to theology during their semesters abroad in the Philippines. The program they studied abroad with was called the Casa Program, an “alternative” study abroad program that focuses on community and experiential learning with the marginalized. Prior to their semesters abroad Liz was studying social work and Abbie was studying economics. Both realized that they wanted to study something they were passionate about, and they found their passion in theology because of the lessons they learned from “the theology of the people.”
