Many years ago, I partook in a handful of undergraduate psychology courses at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and when a certain professor heard I would not be returning the following term, she phoned to inquire why. When I explained the reasoning behind my decision, she offered words of understanding and encouragement I remember to this day. Her words, along with those of others before and since (including, finally, my own inner voice), eventually led me to enroll in the Master of Arts in Professional Counseling program at Lindenwood University in the spring of 2016. I am currently in the second semester of my counseling internship at Creve Coeur Counseling Associates with the intention of graduating this May.
Please join me as I share my experience of pursuing a graduate degree in counseling, an experience through which I am pleased to be developing a better understanding of not only others, but myself, as well.
