Two Sayings

The whole of Buddhist morality can be  summed up in two sayings, the first of which is: ‘Treat every being without exception as though it had been your mother in a previous life!’ … The second is seemingly of the same kind, but much more profound, as it has meanings at many levels that correspond closely to the nature of reality; it runs: ‘See all beings as Buddha! Hear all sounds as Mantra! Behold all places as Nirvana!’ These were the very words  of the teaching I received when I first set upon the Way.
