Who Deserves An Education? A Discussion of Higher Education in a Maximum Security Prison: Share the Wealth with Julie O’Heir Sunday 7 June

Since 2011, Julie O’Heir has worked for the SLU Prison Program, which offers educational opportunities to incarcerated men and prison staff at the ERDCC* community in Bonne Terre, MO. Her role has led her to examine questions of mass incarceration, classism within higher education, and the moral implications of cooperating with institutions. Julie will share her experiences of working with incarcerated men, prison staff from rural Missouri, Department of Corrections officials, and university administrators.

Originally from the south side of Chicago, Julie lives with her husband (and a pond full of fish and frogs) in St. Louis city.
